Mr. Pego, a seasoned civil servant of 29 years with the Department of Transportation, has served the community working through the ranks in positions of increasing levels of responsibility within the district’s development and operations divisions. Mr. Pego has been responsible for all the roadway and bridge construction, traffic operations and maintenance of the State Highway System, which includes the District’s Intelligent Transportation System, one of the largest in the nation. As District Six Secretary he is responsible for the overall planning, design, construction, operations and maintenance of the State Highway System in Miami Dade and Monroe Counties. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Florida.
