MDX SMALL BUSINESS PROGRAM
Small Business Resource Center
Equal Employment Opportunities
The Miami-Dade Expressway Authority ("MDX") strongly supports disadvantaged, small, minority and woman-owned businesses having full opportunity to submit bids and proposals in response to Solicitation Documents issued by MDX and commits that bidders and proposers will not be discriminated against on the basis of sex, age, national origin, religion, and disability or other projected status. MDX notifies all bidders and individuals that it requires and encourages equal employment opportunities for minority and women as employees in the work force.
MDX Small Business Participation Policy
It is the policy of MDX to promote the utilization of small businesses by Prime Consultant/Contractors in the fulfillment of their contractual obligations with MDX. In accordance with this policy, MDX has adopted a Small Business Participation Policy which shall be applicable to all Contracts entered into with MDX for Construction and Professional Services. The contents of which can be reviewed in Article II of our Policies & Procedures.
Contract Measures
MDX’s goal is to assure that not less than 10% of its total annual amount of contracts awarded for professional and construction services is dedicated to Small Businesses. MDX also strongly supports disadvantaged, minority and women-owned businesses with an overall participation goal of 25% of its project.
Contract Set-asides: The MDX Board may determine it is in its best interest to set-aside a Contract 100% for Small Businesses when determined, prior to Bid advertisement, that there are at least three (3) Small Businesses available with the required expertise for the project. Contracts with estimated project construction cost less than or equal to three million dollars ($3,000,000) may also be set-aside for competition by Small Businesses.
Small Business Training Programs
Pursuant to its Policies and Procedures, MDX may implement an educational program providing seminars, training and classes, etc. to provide Small Businesses with the tools and information necessary to compete with larger firms in their respective industries.
We currently offer a Government Contractor Certificate Program to educate government contractors on the procurement process, and a Construction Training Qualification Program to provide skills for contractors wishing to work on transportation projects.
Annual Procurement Workshop
It is our pleasure to invite you and your colleagues to join us at our Annual Procurement Workshop for Small & Minority Businesses. This is our event that brings together the best of minority businesses, corporations, federal and state government officials, all in one place, at one time!
MDX understands that running a small, minority-owned business is not easy, and that getting new business is an ongoing challenge for every small business. To succeed, you have to know the best way to use your limited resources to target your best prospects. Our Annual workshop is a place to meet colleagues, industry peers, current and potential customers or suppliers for serious networking opportunities. Given the challenges small businesses must face, we encourage you to make an extra effort to join us.
Attendance at our Annual Procurement Workshop is an opportunity you can’t afford to miss!
