Why Tolls, Anyhow?
MDX's main source of revenue is tolls, all of which, by law, are dedicated for use only in Miami-Dade County.
While nobody loves tolls, the toll system provides a straightforward source of funding to support the needed improvements on MDX roadways. Transportation plays a critical role in our community. It's the lifeline for all the international commerce that flows to and through Miami-Dade, much of which moves within our community on one of the five expressways for which MDX has responsibility.
